Dr. James Major grew up in Coral Gables, Florida where his father practiced ophthalmology. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Emory University
and Masters and Doctor of Philosophy in Biology at The University of Texas at Austin. He then served as an Assistant Professor at UT and was awarded the University’s highest honor for teaching. Thereafter, he received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine where he also served on the faculty for two years.
